Communication Workers Friendly Society (CWFS). The organisation had some pressure on the office space due to the growing number of employees, some temporary contractor staff wanting to use the office and the size of office available. Also a high proportion of the staff are women who are likely to be taking some maternity leave or have child care responsibilities. The projects that we implemented to assist the organisation cope with these pressures were to - introduce hot desking. We configured roaming profiles on all workstations such that any member of staff could work form any machine in the office.
- encourage home working. We supplied and configured laptops for some members of staff who were able to work from home and connect to the office network via VPN
Major benefit 1: The organisation managed to accommodate the increased staff levels without purchasing and installing additional desks and PCs
Major benefit 2: Those staff who found it difficult to travel in to the office could continue to work very effectively form home when necessary.
